RDFI Hosts National Conference Planning Retreat
RDFI hosted the Liberia National Conference Planning Retreat on May 30-31, 2024, to collaborate with rubber industry stakeholders and discuss ways to enhance the sector in Liberia. Key participants included smallholders and also major concessionaires such as Firestone Liberia, Jetty Corporation, Liberia Agriculture Company, Rubber Planters Association of Liberia (RPAL), and Salala Rubber Corporation.
Our key industry stakeholders discussed the challenges that have plagued the rubber sector ranging from the current state of infrastructure to poor internal and external financing. Honorable Tokpah Mulbah, chairman of the RDFI, emphasized plans for collaboration to address these issues. Minister of Agriculture Dr. Alexander Neutah announced a government investment of over $50 million in the rubber industry over the next five years to enhance opportunities for smallholders. Additionally, discussions included the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and strategies for ensuring compliance among rubber producers.
Overall, this retreat demonstrated the RDFI’s commitment to collaborating with key stakeholders to revitalize Liberia’s rubber sector. This collective effort paved the way for the Liberia National Rubber Conference.
