During preparation for RDFI regular Board meeting of April 25, 2024, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah, suggested that in addition to the agenda items, there was need to include planning for a National Conference on the Rubber Industry in Liberia. This was necessitated by findings which came out of the national discussions on the Executive Order #124 which placed a ban on the export of unprocessed rubber from Liberia. Key findings indicated that there were structural and management issues within the rubber sector that needed to be addressed in order to move the sector forward.

Thus, stakeholders in the rubber industry met for a two-day retreat at the TIMES Royal Ambassador Hotel, Unification Town, Margibi County where SWOT analyses were solicited from the processors, the RPAL and the RDFI. These initiated frank discussions on the challenges experienced by the sector and also helped in identifying opportunities that could be exploited to improve the sector and move it forward.

Key findings from the retreat which are those information, revelations, reflections that came up out of the retreat were also captured. Another important aspect highlighted were the recommendations from the stakeholders as their suggestions for moving the sector forward, based on their experiences.
